Over the past 18 years I have worked as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist gaining a wealth of experience. My work to date has been across services in Limerick City and County, working with Adults, Adolescents and Families while also delivering mental health programs in secondary schools. I work within a team of professionals at Limerick Social Services, the Child and Family Centre and Private Practice.
I hold an Honours Bachelor’s Degree (NFQ Level 8) in Counselling & Psychotherapy, a Post Qualifying Diploma in Gestalt Adolescent Psychotherapy through the Blackfort Adolescent Gestalt Institute and a Masters in Adolescent Psychotherapy (Level 9). My registration and accreditation are with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and the Association of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists (APCP).
I work with Adolescents who struggle with various issues as they navigate their way through development from transition to secondary school to University and the workplace as they carve out a unique and independent identity. The journey through adolescence is full of challenges for both adolescents and parents, therefore I use a collaborative approach to support and meet their emotional needs.
My mission is to promote and empower both Adults and Adolescents towards personal growth.
I am a professionally trained Psychotherapist, working in Limerick City since 2008. Prior to establishing my own private practice in 2015, I gained considerable experience within a range of different settings – as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (Limerick Social Services), as Coordinator of a student support service for adult learners and student parents (Mary Immaculate College) and as a Childline Counsellor (ISPCC). I have facilitated groups for many years in relation to parenting and student support, in addition to lecturing with PCI College on their Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy and personal development modules.
I hold an Honours Bachelor Degree (NFQ Level 8) in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Middlesex University) and I am a registered Counsellor with Rape Crisis Network Ireland. I have significant experience in the provision of pregnancy counselling and support, in addition to an MA in Women’s Studies (UL) and background in women’s reproductive and sexual health having started my working life in Limerick Family Planning Clinic. I am a fully accredited and registered member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and abide by their code of practice and ethics. I am deeply committed to my own psychological and personal growth, and regularly attend workshops, supervision and my own psychotherapy.
I offer Adult Psychotherapy, working with younger and older adults, aged 18 years upwards. I specialise in supporting life events and transitions (whether in relation to loss/bereavement, or changes such as pregnancy/parenting, relationship difficulties/healing the wounds of past relationships in addition to coping with overwhelm due to work issues/college stresses).
I provide both short-term and long-term Psychotherapy, and work from a person-centred, relational approach. My aim is to provide a safe and compassionate therapeutic space for my clients to explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences, at their own pace, and to support and empower new coping skills and ‘grow’ their inner resources. I am passionate about this work, holding space for healing and growth, journeying with my clients and witnessing the positive, meaningful and life-changing benefits of Psychotherapy with them. I look forward to welcoming you to your first session and journeying with you.
